In October 2012 Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation requiring that children in Michigan public schools be given the opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every school day.
The new law will take effect with the start of the 2013 school year.
As we know the pledge starts with “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America...”
Many Michigan schools do not have a U.S. Flag to display in each class room.
Members of Chapter 110 of The Military Order of the Purple Heart are working to provide and install U S Flags in public schools in the part of southwest Michigan where most of our Chapter members live.
So far donations have enabled us to be able to provide a U. S. flag for all 45 public school classrooms in Berry County. Some additional Military Order of The Purple Heart Chapter 110 funds have been allocated by the membership to keep the project going for classrooms in Calhoun and other southwest Michigan counties.
Donations are needed to complete this project.
If you choose to donate please let us know if we can use your donation to provide flags for both private and public schools. If you prefer you can designate that your donation is to be used for flags for public schools only.
Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 110 is a 501 c4 charitable organization so your donation is tax deductible.
If you would like to make a donation to help us support this program please make you check payable to: Chapter 110
